Wash Day Diaries

Wash Day Diaries

By Jamila Rowser, illustrated by Robyn Smith

Friendship, self-care, and the rituals that connect us.

Follow four best friends—Kim, Tanisha, Davene, and Cookie—as they navigate everyday life in the Bronx. Told through five connected comic stories, Wash Day Diaries celebrates the beauty, resilience, and friendships of Black women, with hair care woven into the heart of their experiences.

Named for the time devoted to washing, conditioning, and nourishing Black hair, this graphic novel turns a familiar ritual into an intimate portrait of care, connection, and showing up for one another.
